Only
professional-level equipment is used to create
and post-process Photo Japan images.
Digital images are captured in RAW format using
pro-level cameras with sensors of six megapixels
or greater. Color transparencies are
scanned at 300 dpi, 8-bits per color channel and
4.2 dynamic range in TIFF format output.
In the digital
darkroom, RAW and DNG files are converted to
TIFF images using the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR)
plug-in software. Images are individually
checked for dust and scratches, exposure,
contrast, focus, noise, level horizons, lens
distortion and color. As a general rule no
sharpening is applied. JPEG images are
saved in Photoshop at the highest quality
setting (12) resulting in the largest file size.
